Rescue Roadtrips is a non-profit organization created by Greg Mahle to transport dogs on death row from Southern kill shelters to Northern New England states where adoptions is higher in demand.
As a senior thesis project, an app was designed to help recruit drivers and problem solve current limitations.
Rescue Roadtrips is currently a one man show, which limits the numbers of trips due to cost and fatigue. However, by targeting 18-30 year old road trippers there is an opportunity to utilize an audience that enjoys traveling in order to maximize the number of lives saved.
Whether it’s a college student driving back home for the holidays or someone hitting the roads for a weekend getaway, the mutually beneficial relationship of traveling with a companion if further rewarded by knowing you saved a life.
The app helps make the transportation process safe and easy so that drivers can be in constant contact with the adoptive homes and have immediate access to pet tips and weather updates so that you only have to worry about enjoying the ride
